why this matters to your students & alumni

For many therapists entering the profession, lymphatic work can feel conceptually clear but clinically uncertain.
The Lymphatic Foundations course allows students and early-career therapists to:
  • translate anatomy + physiology into practical treatment strategies
  • full day of hands-on partner exchange learning
  • build confidence using gentle therapeutic techniques
  • explore clinical decision-making through case discussion
  • ask questions that arise as they prepare to enter practice
  • support students as they enter practice, and alumni in building their practice toolkit

This environment is particularly supportive for students transitioning into clinical practice and for newer therapists (alumni) refining their treatment approach or broadening their services.

what makes this course different

This course is grounded in a clinically focused, healthcare-informed approach to lymphatic care ~ distinct from aesthetic-driven (e.g., Brazilian) techniques.

It emphasizes:
  • Alignment with RMT scope and established lymphatic frameworks ~ supporting safe, accountable practice your program can stand behind
  • A strong, clinically relevant foundation in lymphatic anatomy, physiology, and common pathologies
  • Assessment-driven, evidence-informed clinical reasoning ~ moving students beyond rote protocols to confident decision-making
  • Adaptive, patient-centered techniques based on real tissue presentation and clinical context
  • Clear differentiation between clinical MLD and aesthetic approaches ~ reinforcing professional standards
  • Patient safety at every step, including sound judgment around indications, contraindications, and referral pathways
  • Integration within a collaborative circle-of-care model ~ preparing graduates for real-world interdisciplinary practice

Participants leave with practical tools they can integrate immediately into their treatments.

host priority registration

By hosting the workshop, your College will bring valuable continuing education opportunities to your student body, alumni and local therapist community while demonstrating leadership and support for the profession.

Host schools have first opportunity to fill the workshop with their students or alumni.

Workshops require a  minimum of 10 participants and are limited to 20 participants  to maintain a strong hands-on learning environment.

If the host school has not filled the minimum enrolment by four weeks prior to the course, the host agrees to:
     • assist in sharing the course with alumni networks or local therapists
     • allow the course to be promoted more widely
     • allow EluVett Method to open registration publicly*

This helps ensure the workshop can proceed while still prioritizing participation for the host school.

If the school already anticipates that the minimum enrolment may not be reached internally, public promotion* may begin earlier while reserving spaces for students or alumni.

* The course will be offered at a regular rate to public enrolment

Why lymphatic therapy matters
in modern massage therapy practice

Massage therapy education provides a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, pathology, and therapeutic treatment planning as outlined by the standards of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, and other professional colleges across Canada.
Picture
Within this framework, the lymphatic system plays an important role in several key areas of massage therapy education and clinical practice, including:

• inflammation and tissue healing
• immune and systemic fluid balance
• edema and swelling
• post-surgical recovery
• chronic pain and systemic congestion

While students learn the structure and function of the lymphatic system, many therapists graduate wanting greater clarity on how to apply this knowledge clinically through hands-on treatment approaches.
EluVett Method lymphatic courses help bridge this gap by connecting foundational education with practical clinical skills.

supporting MASSAGE THERAPY COMPETENCIES

Lymphatic-focused training supports several competency areas (including STRiVE)
emphasized within Ontario massage therapy education, including:
ASSESSMENT AND CLINICAL REASONING
Understanding patterns of swelling, congestion, and inflammatory presentation can help therapists better interpret findings during assessment.

TREATMENT PLANNING
Lymphatic techniques provide an additional approach when working with presentations such as post-injury inflammation, post-surgical recovery, and chronic fluid congestion.

SAFE AND APPROPRIATE APPLICATION OF TREATMENT
Therapists learn when lymphatic approaches may be beneficial and when referral or caution is required.

PATIENT EDUCATION AND SELF-CARE
Patients often benefit from understanding lifestyle and self-care strategies that support healthy lymphatic function.
Picture
SUPPORTING THE PROFESSION
These workshops are designed not only as continuing education, but also as a way to support massage therapists as they develop confidence in their clinical work.

Schools play a vital role in shaping the profession, and partnering with educational programs helps ensure therapists continue learning throughout their careers.

about the eluvett method

The EluVett Method is a clinically grounded approach to lymphatic treatment and manual lymphatic drainage that integrates anatomical knowledge, palpation and mobility skills, and critical thinking into practical application.

It is designed specifically for massage therapists who are not practicing traditional (medical) MLD or full Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), but who want to safely and effectively incorporate lymphatic strategies (MLD) into general and clinically indicated treatments.

Key principles include:
  • Practicing within RMT scope while respecting established lymphatic frameworks
  • Applying a strong foundation in lymphatic anatomy, physiology, and common pathologies
  • Using assessment and clinical reasoning to guide individualized, evidence-informed treatment (not protocol-driven care)
  • Adapting techniques to tissue presentation and the patient’s overall context
  • Distinguishing clinical MLD from aesthetic approaches
  • Prioritizing patient safety, including recognizing indications, contraindications, and when to refer out
  • Integrating MLD within a collaborative circle-of-care approach
